Dr. Zuhair Ali Abdulnabi, a faculty member at the Marine Sciences Center, served as supervisor and committee member for the thesis defense of graduate student Ayat Salah Mahleh, a master’s candidate in the Department of Environmental Science at the College of Science, regarding her thesis titled
*Removal of Organic Dyes from Wastewater Using Activated Carbon Loaded with Secondary Oxides Derived from Plastic Waste*
The thesis aimed to synthesize hybrid materials reinforced with nano-oxides and improve their efficiency in removing organic dyes from water to find environmental solutions that combine plastic waste reduction with wastewater treatment.
The thesis also addressed the potential for efficient reuse of these materials due to their antibacterial activity, making them suitable for sustainable environmental treatment applications.
The thesis recommended the use of materials with stable nanoscale properties and high efficiency in removing organic and inorganic pollutants, making them a promising option for application in wastewater treatment and reducing environmental pollution.
