The use of solar energy at the Marine Science Centre’s fish hatchery
The Marine Science Centre at the University of Basra utilises solar energy at its fish hatchery
The use of solar energy at the hatchery aims to ensure the sustainability and continuity of vital operations for artificial breeding and to carry out genetic improvement programmes for various native fish species.
This includes the use of solar energy to
power water temperature control systems – a key factor in the success of the hatching process – and to manage aeration and filtration systems, thereby maintaining water quality, reducing reliance on the electricity grid, cutting operational costs and minimising pollution.
By utilising clean energy solutions to support fish production, thereby achieving environmental and economic sustainability for the hatchery.
