The Marine Consultancy Office at the Marine Science Center is one of the distinguished scientific offices at the University of Basra. It was established in mid-June 1993 in accordance with Instruction No. (60) of 1993 within the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra.

It is concerned with providing marine consulting and monitoring pollution in Iraqi rivers and marine waters / It develops specialized expertise and provides consulting services in the field of fisheries development, as well as conducting environmental, topographic, and geophysical surveys of river and marine waters and soil investigations, in addition to implementing projects through contracts with government agencies and the private and mixed sectors within its jurisdiction.

The office has completed numerous consulting projects for Arab and foreign companies and private sector companies working for state institutions, as shown in the attached tables. As part of its support for the Marine Science Center and the university, and in accordance with the Scientific and Consultative Services Offices Law No. 7 of 1997 and the applicable regulations in this field, the office has contributed to supporting the budget of the Higher Education Fund at the center through which incentives are distributed to affiliates and contributions are made to the maintenance of the department and other available items, In addition, it supports the internal departments of the University of Basra with 10% of the total revenue from its projects, contributing, along with the university presidency, to providing the best services to students residing in the internal departments of our esteemed university.
