The Marine Sciences Centre welcomes the Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the University of Basra

to steer the educational process towards academic accreditation, improve the scientific research environment, manage staff performance appraisal files, and classify teaching laboratories in accordance with approved standards.

Dr Abdul Amir Rahim Jassim, Director-General of the Marine Sciences Centre, welcomed Professor Abdul Karim Taher Yasser, Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the University of Basra, and Dr Wusn Fawzi Fadel, Head of the Accreditation Division.

The visit included a tour of the Marine Biology Department’s laboratories and guidance for laboratory officials on improving and developing the quality of the laboratories in line with approved Iraqi standards, thereby enhancing the quality of academic and research performance and contributing to the provision of a sound laboratory environment that supports scientific progress.

Dr Mahmoud Shaker Hashim, Head of the Department of Marine Biology, emphasised the commitment of the department’s lecturers and researchers to following these guidelines and working to implement them in order to achieve the highest levels of quality and accreditation.
