
As part of his endeavor to enhance the legal and administrative awareness of the academic and administrative cadres, the Center for Marine Sciences organized a specialized training course entitled:
"Consulting offices law in higher education and scientific research institutions"
This is Monday, 6/16/2025, with the participation of a number of teaching staff and workers in the units and research and consulting centers at the university.
The course aimed to shed light on the legal and regulatory aspects of the work of the consulting offices, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (7) of 1997 and its recent amendment under Law No. (33) of 2023, which represents the legislative framework regulating the establishment and employment of scientific and consulting offices in universities and institutes.
The session hubs included:
• Definition of consulting offices and their goals.
• Establishment and management mechanism.
Administrative and financial independence.
Distribution of revenues and profits.
• The new amendments to the law in 2023.
• The role of offices in supporting scientific research and community service.
The session was moderated by the teacher, Dr. Mohamed Jassim Al -Yasiri, the official of the Follow -up of the Consulting Office’s work at Basra University, and Professor Dr. Raghad Shabar Jaafar, Director of the Maritime Consulting Office at the Seapis Center, where it witnessed a wide interaction from the participants, and discussions on ways to activate the role of these offices in a way that enhances the institution’s resources and the efficiency of their performance.
At the end of the session, the participants expressed their thanks to the center's management for organizing this important activity, stressing the importance of repeating such courses that contribute to developing institutional performance and optimal benefit from the legislation in force.
