In continuation of the initiative launched by the Director General of the Marine Science Center, the Center's Afforestation Unit, in cooperation with the Basra Directorate of Agriculture, announced the mobilization of all staff to actively participate in a major afforestation campaign in the indoor and outdoor gardens of the Marine Science Center.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability inside and outside the center, which contributes to providing an ideal academic atmosphere, and to directly monitor the sustainability of vegetation cover by applying technical standards in the selection of tree species and their geographical distribution in a manner that serves the urban plan of the center and the university.

The center's director general emphasized that the center's role does not end with the end of the campaign day, but rather that the center's management has developed a periodic plan for monitoring, watering, and pruning to ensure the continued freshness of the university garden and its appearance, which reflects the civilized image of the university.
