Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil Hassan contributed to the preparation of a televised scientific report with the media delegation of the second German state television, ZDF, about the effects caused by climate change in southern Iraq, where the researcher participated with the German delegation in two scientific trips to the Siba region (the Shatt al-Arab stream and farms affected by salinity) and the district  Al-Faw and the location of Ras Al-Bishah, which may be affected by the rise in sea level, according to some scenarios that have been developed for a hundred years.

This comes in the midst of global interest in studying the environmental situation of Iraq, which is classified as one of the five countries most affected by climate change and desertification.  Waste of water and drought affect the land.  Drinking water is becoming increasingly scarce and spreading of barren lands.

The media delegation filmed scenes of the remains of withered plants and desertified lands in the same locations as orchards blooming with varieties of crops and Plants that found nearly 4 centuries ago.

This report was presented at the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2022 (COP27), which was held from 7-18 November 2022, which focused on discussing measures to combat climate change in the countries of the world and possible compensation for the climate damage that already occurred.
