The Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra Organizes a Workshop on Research Statistics and Guidelines for the New Academic Year
Under the patronage and in the presence of the Director General of the Marine Sciences Center, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Amir Rahim Jassim, the Center’s Scientific Affairs Division organized a specialized workshop titled “Statistics and Guidelines for Scientific Research for the 2026–2027 Academic Year.”
The workshop addressed two main themes. The first theme aimed to discuss and evaluate the statistical status of scientific research (published, completed, and ongoing) for the 2025–2026 academic year, and to compare completion rates with the approved plan, as well as to identify gaps and obstacles to support decision-making and the development of scientific research plans for the 2026–2027 academic year. This theme included the presentation and classification of research data, an analysis of the causes of delays, and a discussion of performance indicators and corrective recommendations.
Meanwhile, the second component of the workshop focused on reviewing the research guidelines for the academic year (2026–2027), with the aim of familiarizing researchers with the approved standard guidelines to ensure the quality of research outputs and compliance with them, while clarifying scientific policies and priorities, registration mechanisms, and ethical approvals, in addition to implementation and documentation steps, as well as publication and evaluation controls.
During the workshop, lecturer Dr. Ahmed Jasb Al-Shammari, head of the Center’s Scientific Affairs Division, emphasized the importance of removing all obstacles facing researchers and raising the scientific and research standards to advance the Center’s academic journey toward greater productivity and excellence.
