As part of the memorandum of understanding between the Universities of Basra and Koya, the Center for Marine Sciences at the University of Basra organized a research trip for a team of its researchers to Koya University, in preparation for a joint research project aimed at conducting comprehensive geological, hydrological, and environmental surveys of Lake Dokan in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
Through this field visit, the research team seeks to collect specialized scientific data, in coordination with Koya University and relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region, to facilitate fieldwork and transport scientific equipment from the team’s temporary residence in Erbil to the lake site.
This activity is part of efforts to strengthen academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise among Iraqi scientific institutions, intensify field research studies aimed at serving Iraq’s environment and water sectors, and establish mechanisms to develop joint work and expand the scope of future cooperation between the two sides to include other research and scientific projects and programs.
