The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Undersecretary for Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Zahd, and the President of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Aqil Fadel Al-Dahan, honored a distinguished group of researchers from the Center for Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, in recognition of their academic contributions and research achievements published in the prestigious international databases “Scopus” and “Clarivate,” as well as their high rankings in international scientist rankings.
​The ceremony was attended by Local Government Council member Engineer Sara Al-Husseini, the presidents of the province’s technical and private universities, and the deans of the university’s colleges, amid widespread praise for the ongoing efforts of the Marine Sciences Center and its teaching and research staff to advance the academic, environmental, and research landscape in Basra Governorate and Iraq as a whole, and to achieve quality and academic accreditation goals through conducting pure and applied scientific research in the fields of biology and marine and freshwater environments, as well as training researchers and developing their scientific and technical capabilities and potential, as well as developing human resources and scientific competencies to conduct strategic studies in scientific, research, and academic fields.
