A Faculty Member at the Center for Marine Sciences Participates in a Master’s Thesis Defense Committee at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra
Assoc. Prof. D. Dhafar Zahir Habib participated as a member of the committee reviewing the master’s thesis submitted by graduate student Haider Kazim Haider at the College of Marine Sciences – University of Basra, titled
*Spatial and Temporal Variations of Aliphatic and Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Waters and Sediments of the Iraqi Coast in the Northwest Arabian Gulf*
The main objective of this thesis is to assess pollution levels of hydrocarbons (aliphatic and aromatic) and to determine their spatial and temporal variations in the waters and sediments of the Iraqi coast. The focus is on the northwestern Arabian Gulf region, which is a vital and environmentally sensitive area due to intensive oil and industrial activities.
The discussion took place in an outstanding academic atmosphere and featured in-depth scholarly exchanges, during which Dr. Dhafar Zahir Habib offered a series of precise scientific observations and guidance that enriched the discussion and enhanced the research value of the thesis.
At the conclusion of the session, the examination committee expressed its appreciation for the effort expended in preparing the dissertation and commended the significance of the findings reached by the student, wishing him continued success in his academic and research career.
