A faculty member from the Marine Sciences Center participated as a member of the doctoral dissertation defense committee as part of the joint scientific collaboration among the units of the University of Basra.
Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Fares Abbas, a faculty member at the Marine Sciences Center/University of Basra, participated as a member of the committee reviewing the doctoral dissertation of graduate student Haider Shaker Darwish
titled “A Diagnostic and Descriptive Study of Aquatic Predatory Insects of the Order Hemiptera and Their Role in Biological Control of the Incomplete Life Cycles of Mosquitoes in Some Areas of Southern Iraq.”
Dr. Muhammad Fares explained that the study is a diagnostic and ecological study focusing on aquatic predatory insects of the order Hemiptera, aiming to document their species and habitats. It also aims to evaluate their role in the biological control of mosquitoes through their predation on the incomplete life stages (larvae and nymphs).
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Muhammad Fares Abbas for his efforts in reviewing and evaluating the dissertation and for enriching the discussion with valuable scientific information.
