University of Basra Publishes Two Research Papers in a Journal Indexed in Scopus
Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Hashim, a faculty member at the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra, published two scientific papers titled “Identifying flavor compounds in pollen and their role in attracting honeybees”
and “Study of amino acids and the functional properties of two types of algae (Arthrospira platensis and a local Arthrospira sp.)”
in the Agricultural Biotechnology Journal, which is ranked in Q3 with an SJR of 0.245
published by Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman in collaboration with the Iranian Society of Biotechnology, which focuses on biotechnologies applied in agriculture, genetics, and crop physiology.
The first study aimed to identify the compounds responsible for the flavor of pollen and understand their role in attracting honeybees. The second research objective was to evaluate and compare the amino acid content and functional properties of two types of Arthrospira algae (the standard and local varieties) to determine the suitability of the local variety as an effective food or industrial substitute.
