The main objective of this study is to document the first recorded occurrence of the plant Pluchea dioscoridis (of the Asteraceae family) in the Al-Chibayish region of southern Iraq and to include the species in the list of wild and aquatic plants in the region, thereby updating the flora records of the Al-Chibayish Marshes, an area listed as a World Heritage Site (Mesopotamian Marshes).
