Dr. Adel Jassim Mohammed, a faculty member at the Marine Sciences Center, served as a member of the thesis defense committee for graduate student Zeina Mazen Ghazi (M.S.) in the Department of Applied Marine Sciences at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra

Her thesis is titled “The Oceanographic Physics of Tidal Waves in the Khor Al-Zubair Channel—Southern Iraq.”

The study aimed to analyze tidal constants in the Khor Al-Zubair Channel through a harmonic analysis of tidal components affecting wave amplitude and phase difference.

The study highlighted the importance of understanding tidal behavior to improve the management of shipping lanes and coastal structures.
