The University of Basra is organizing a training course on “Using Origin Software to Calculate the Optical Properties of Extracted Materials”

As part of its efforts to enhance research and scientific skills, the Marine Science Center organized a specialized training course titled “Using Origin Software to Calculate the Optical Properties of Extracted Materials”

The course aimed to introduce participants to how to use Origin, one of the leading software programs for statistical analysis and graphing, in analyzing spectral data of natural and extracted materials. The lecturer focused on the practical aspects of calculating optical properties such as the energy gap, absorption coefficient, refractive index, and other physical properties essential in materials science, physics, and chemistry research.

The course, taught by Dr. Rajaa Mohammed Abdullah, a faculty member at the Polymer Research Center, included hands-on practical applications on how to input data from measuring instruments, process it graphically, and extract precise values for optical properties using the software’s advanced tools.
