Professor Ibtisam Mahdi Abdul-Sahib served on the examination committee for PhD candidate Hanan Abdul-Hafiz Ali from the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources, College of Agriculture, University of Basra, regarding her dissertation titled *An Ecological Study of Some Benthic Invertebrates in Khor Al-Zubair*

The study aimed to identify the large invertebrates present in the Khor Al-Zubair area, determine peak seasons, examine certain environmental factors, calculate diversity indices for the studied organisms, and compare them across stations.

The thesis included measurements of certain environmental characteristics, as well as the density and biomass of some benthic invertebrates, and utilized biological and environmental indices.

The study recommended addressing and reducing pollution, as well as the necessity of conducting continuous environmental monitoring of the Khor Al-Zubair environment to preserve biodiversity.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ibtisam Mahdi for her efforts in reviewing and evaluating the scientific thesis and enriching the discussion with valuable scientific information.
