Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Prof. Muhannad Jawad Kazim, and the supervision of the Director General of the Marine Science Center, Prof. Abdul Amir Rahim Jassim
The Culture and Society Committee at the Marine Science Center held a symposium on the occasion of the birth of Imam al-Hujjah, peace be upon him, entitled “Al-Hussein, peace be upon him, our path to the Mahdi, may God hasten his noble return,” with the participation of Dr. Hussein al-Karbalaei and
Sheikh Hazim al-Shahmani
The seminar aimed to bridge the gap between two great events (Karbala and the appearance of the Mahdi) and transform the emotional connection to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) into a practical program that prepares believers to be part of the project of the awaited Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his appearance).
The symposium included an explanation of the organic and intellectual connection between the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the cause of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his return), and a statement that the uprising of Hussein is the foundation and starting point for the appearance of Mahdi, and that the blood of Karbala is what nourished and prepared the ground for the establishment of a global state of justice. It drew lessons and morals from the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), which is considered a practical educational school for raising the supporters of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his arrival). Strengthening their qualities and correcting the concept of waiting for Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) and transforming it from a negative state (mere wishful thinking) to a positive and active state, so that the believer is part of the preparation for the emergence. Reviving responsibility towards the Mahdi cause by reviving the rituals of Ashura and linking them to the meanings of waiting. so that the annual commemoration of Karbala becomes a dynamic force that motivates people and renews their covenant with the absent Imam, and reinforces the vision and optimism that ultimate victory is on the side of the people of truth, and that the march of blood and martyrdom that began in Karbala will end with the establishment of the state of divine justice at the hands of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his return), giving believers moral strength
and hope in the face of challenges.
