The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a specialized training course entitled “Sustainable Environmental Practices in Fish Farms.”

The course aimed to raise awareness among farmers and workers in the sector and equip them with the necessary skills to reduce environmental impact and ensure sustainable production.

The course, which was lectured by Dr. Arafat Rajab Ahmed from the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, covered several topics, including rational water management, feed and nutrition management, disease prevention, protection of ecosystems and biodiversity, waste and drainage management, and energy efficiency, with an introduction to techniques such as integrated aquaculture systems (RAS), polyculture, and integrated farming (such as combining fish farming with agriculture).
