Dr. Ammar Yasser Jassim, a lecturer at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, published a scientific article entitled
“Harnessing nanotechnology for abiotic stress mitigation in agriculture: a sustainable approach to crop resilience” in the Journal of Plant Interactions, published by Tylor & Francis
in the first quarter (Q1) with an impact factor of 3.4 in Scopus.
The journal publishes open-access plant biology research on plant interactions, including physiology, biochemistry, ecology, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
This article reviewed the latest applications of nanomaterials in alleviating abiotic stress, highlighting mechanisms that enhance antioxidant defenses, regulate hormonal signaling and gene expression, and improve nutrient uptake. It also discusses recent developments in nanocarrier systems for precision agriculture, along with challenges related to toxicity, environmental safety, and regulatory frameworks, supporting the trend toward promoting sustainable agricultural practices based on nanotechnology in the face of increasing climate challenges.
