Dr. Zuhair Ali Abdul Nabi, a lecturer at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Life Sciences and Their Applications, held at the College of Education/Qurna.

The participation included the presentation of a research paper entitled

Vertical Distribution, Source Analysis, and Health Risk Assessment of Residual Selenium in Sediment Cores from the Shatt al-Basrah Channel.

The aim of the research was to measure the concentration of selenium in sediment cores, assess the proportion of selenium, evaluate the potential environmental risks to the aquatic ecosystem, and estimate the health risks to the ecosystem in the Shatt al-Basrah River and its negative repercussions on human health.
