Dr. Adel Jassim Al-Fartousi and Dr. Ali Abdul-Razzaq Lfta, lecturers at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, have published a book entitled Tides: Between Astrophysics and Oceanography.

The book contains 109 pages divided into five chapters covering a general introduction to the solar system, waves, the forces that generate tides, tide prediction, and rivers and river mouths.

The aim of the book is to link astronomical phenomena, such as the gravitational pull of the moon and sun, with their direct impact on the oceans, such as the phenomenon of tides, in order to explain their physical causes.
