Professor Abdul Zahra Abdul Rasul Al-Halw, lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Marine Pollution at the Marine Science Center, participated in a workshop entitled “National Adaptation Plan (Water and Integrated Water Resources Management)”.

The workshop was held at the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with UNICEF Iraq.

A number of academics, experts, and representatives from relevant ministries participated in the workshop.

The workshop lasted for two days (6 hours per day) and included plenary sessions, group work, and technical presentations.

It focused on defining the context of adaptation and setting priorities, with the theme “Understanding the vulnerabilities, gaps, and priorities for water sector adaptation in the context of integrated water resources management.”

The workshop reviewed how to integrate climate change adaptation strategies into national water resource management plans, with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of water resources and achieving a balance between demand and environmental needs.

This workshop aims to develop a comprehensive approach to addressing water challenges in the context of climate change, such as water scarcity and the need to protect the environment.
