Professor Abdul Zahra Abdul Rasul Al-Halo, from the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, participated in a discussion organized by the local government and relevant government agencies at the Basra Governorate Diwan.

The discussion addressed the problem of salinity in the Shatt al-Arab waterway, saltwater flow, and the main challenges facing the Basra Governorate. To address these issues,

The goal is to address the salinity problem in Shatt al-Arab through concerted efforts and the implementation of integrated solutions. These solutions include increasing water flows, building dams and canals, managing water resources effectively, conducting necessary studies, and fostering regional cooperation. These measures are intended to ensure the sustainability of freshwater in Shatt al-Arab and prevent the rise of saltwater.
