"The University of Basra raises the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at the Bab al-Zubair College Complex, a message of loyalty and renewal of the covenant in cooperation with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein."
In an atmosphere filled with sadness and loyalty, and with the arrival of the month of Muharram, the month of martyrdom and sacrifice, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad al-Asadi, President of the University of Basra, received this morning the Advisor to the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, Hajj Fadel Oz, and his accompanying delegation at the university. The delegation participated in the ceremony of raising the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), organized by the university in coordination with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein.
The reception ceremony was attended by the university president's assistants, deans of colleges, heads of academic departments, and a group of academic and administrative staff, reflecting the unity of the Iraqi people and their adherence to the values of the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
During the ceremony, the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, delivered a speech in which he emphasized, "In these sad days as we welcome the month of Muharram, we remember together the immortal epic of Karbala, where Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his family, and his righteous companions, with their pure blood, inscribed the highest meanings of steadfastness, sacrifice, and rejection of injustice and tyranny. They raised the banner of pride and dignity, which will continue to fly high in the sky of the free." Al-Asadi added, "From the heart of Basra, and from its academic edifice, the University of Basra, we renew today the call for pride and faith by raising the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), in an annual tradition that affirms the adherence of the people of Iraq to the values of the Husseini revolution and heralds the beginning of the season of conscious mourning, the season of renewing loyalty to truth and justice."
The university president also pointed out that this occasion coincides with the victories achieved by the axis of resistance, particularly the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the usurping Zionist entity. He emphasized that the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) will remain a symbol of steadfastness and defiance in the face of injustice, and that the blood of the martyrs blossoms with pride and dignity until the promise of the free to liberate Palestine and all other usurped lands is fulfilled.
Al-Asadi concluded his speech by calling on the people of the province and university cadres to adhere to the principles of the Husseini renaissance and renew their pledge to raise the banner of truth and dignity. He praised the university's role in linking knowledge with religious and national awareness, and its constant affirmation of loyalty to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
It is worth noting that the University of Basra is keen to hold an annual event. The ceremony of raising the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is a tradition that embodies the depth of its connection to the values of the Husseini Revolution and its message of spreading awareness and loyalty to the nation's causes and rejecting injustice and tyranny.
