Basra University organizes a visit to the Basra Tourism Department to encourage sustainable tourism behaviors

The Basra University Sciences Center organized a visit to the Basra Tourism Department in support of environmental tourism in order to achieve sustainable development by preserving the environment, supporting local communities, increasing environmental awareness and providing unique tourism experiences.

The Director General of the Marine Sciences Center, Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajil, said during the visit that environmental tourism and sustainable development are an integrated concept that aims to achieve a balance between economic and social development and environmental protection.

The two sides agreed to establish joint workshops to discuss the establishment of a nautical museum, maintenance of the presidential yacht, Naseem Basra, and work to rehabilitate the Harir Station for Scientific Research for its distinguished geographical location, its views of the marshes, and the possibility of contributing to attracting tourists, visitors and those interested in environmental tourism.
