
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and under the supervision of the Director General of the Marine Science Center, Professor Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajeel, and as part of the celebrations of our university's 61st anniversary, our center, the Department of Marine Vertebrates, held a workshop entitled "The Impact of Climate Change on the Environment, Fisheries, and Marine Fish Farming."
The workshop was attended by specialists from the College of Agriculture, Iraqi Ports, the Directorate of Agriculture, the General Authority for Fisheries, and a number of fish farmers, professors, and researchers from the center.
The workshop addressed Iraq's promising future in the Grand Faw Port, the impact of marine heat waves and climate change on fisheries and biodiversity, the status of marine farming, future prospects, and the impact of climate change on it.
The workshop aimed to understand the impact of climate change on aquatic ecosystems and fisheries, analyze its effects on fish farming practices and production, and discuss best practices for adaptation.
