Lecturers at the University of Basra participate in the first patent exhibition at Al-Kunooz University College in cooperation with the Iraqi Inventors and Innovators Association.

Lecturers at the University of Basra's Marine Science Center, Dr. Falah Marouf Mutlaq, Dr. Ahmed Youssef Hamoud, and Dr. Iman Abdullah Abdul-Ali, participated in the first Patent Exhibition for the year 2024-2025. The exhibition featured the extraction of new antibacterial substances from some aquatic plants against bacteria associated with post-operative wound infections; the discovery and extraction of new bioactive substances from some marine invertebrates; and an innovative method for producing new nano-ferrite particles using lemon plant extract and using them as an adsorbent to remove petroleum hydrocarbon contamination from their aqueous solutions. The exhibition also featured the production of a bio-metabolized substance and scientifically proven its effectiveness in reducing ammonia gas associated with poultry farming, which was organized by Al-Kunooz University College.

The Patent Exhibition is an important platform for supporting innovation and promoting scientific research in Iraq. It provides an opportunity for inventors and researchers to present their ideas and innovations to experts and investors. It also contributes to building a collaborative network between universities, research centers, and the industrial sector to transform ideas into practical applications.
