
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a course on the importance of presentations in marketing scientific and research output, with the participation of a number of faculty members.
The course aimed to highlight the importance of presentations in marketing the scientific and research output of Iraqi universities and to develop the capabilities of faculty members, researchers, and graduate students in preparing and delivering presentations commensurate with the scope of scientific output. It also outlined the methods used to deliver professional presentations at international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
The course included lectures delivered by two faculty members at the Marine Science Center, Dr. Dhafar Zahir Habib and Dr. Balqis Suhaim Abbas. They explained the most important principles and modern methods used in preparing research and study presentations, and how to present them in a concise format that enables researchers to market their ideas and scientific output both domestically and internationally.
The course addressed methods for engaging the audience during a presentation, how to avoid boredom, steps for condensing research components and extracting the most important information to be presented within the specified timeframe, and methods for preparing scientific posters to communicate ideas to the largest possible number of researchers and interested parties at international conferences.
