A lecturer at the University of Basra publishes a scientific article in a Dutch scientific journal

Dr. Ammar Yasser Jassim, a lecturer at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, published a scientific article in collaboration with other researchers titled: "Recent Advances in Targeting Cancer Stem Cells by Using Nanomaterials" in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics, published by Elsevier. This journal, which has a Scopus and Clarivate Q1 index with an impact factor of 5.3, publishes articles and special research on pharmaceutical nanotechnology and personalized medicines. The study addresses a new and exciting field where materials science meets biomedicine. This review discusses the biology of cancer stem cells and new methods for creating nanoparticles (NPs) that can deliver cancer drugs specifically to these cancer stem cells. This review also discusses the creation of various types of nanoparticles, including synthetic and natural polymer molecules, lipid molecules, inorganic particles, self-assembling protein molecules, antibody and drug-containing molecules, and tiny bubbles called nanovesicles, all of which are designed to target cancer stem cells. This paper therefore reports on recent progress and perspectives on the use of nanotechnology in stem cell research and treatment. It also discusses how nanoparticles can help track and control stem cells and improve their retention.
