A researcher at the University of Basra participates in a scientific symposium.

Professor Ahmed Jasib Jabbar, a researcher at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, participated in a scientific symposium titled "The Iraqi Roadmap for Energy Transition and Reducing Pollutant Emissions in the Iraqi Environment." The symposium was held in the conference hall of the College of Arts at the University of Basra.

The symposium included presenting a research paper titled "Aquatic Environmental Pollution by Plastic Residues and Their Impact on Aquatic Life."

The paper addressed the spread of large, medium, and small plastic particles in our waters, particularly rivers and seas. This spread leads to polluting effects on the environment through visual and plastic pollution, as well as on human health in general. This has led to the widespread use of plastics in our daily lives through the proliferation of handicrafts and household items, both without awareness and due to their danger. The symposium also aimed to increase the availability of these items and limit their spread.

The study aimed to identify the dangers of plastics, their spread in the aquatic environment, and their impact on aquatic life.
