
The Marine Science Center organized a scientific course on gene therapy applications
The course, which was lectured by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sami Fadagh Ziyadi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rafid Muhammad Karim, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Najm Mohsen Aziz, covered an overview of gene therapy and the possibility of repairing genes that do not work properly, which causes diseases.
The symposium touched on many different gene therapy applications such as treating cancer of all types, or genetic disorders that suppress the immune response, and includes enhancing treatments for genetic diseases by enhancing the immune system.
The course aimed at the advanced use of genes in treating some diseases of genetic origin by correcting or inserting a correct gene into patients to restore their health or alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
