The lecturer at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, Dr. Hassan Khalil Hassan, participated in the workshop (Basra Shatt Regulator: Reality and Future Vision) which was held at the Basra Environment Directorate.
The participation included giving a lecture entitled (Research Contributions of the Marine Science Center to Environmental Issues in Basra Governorate)
The lecture included highlighting the role of the Marine Science Center in supporting environmental conservation and sustainability and enhancing partnership and scientific cooperation between the center as a research institution and public and private sector institutions, and its continuous contributions in providing scientific advice at the highest levels in the state in the oceanographic and environmental fields, which enhanced high confidence in its capabilities and made it rank first in the sequence of research centers for the year 2021 as the best research center in Iraq. The research team at the center will rely on programs and a medium-term strategic plan in studying the site of the Basra Shatt Regulator for a period of 5 years to detect the type of pollutants and the impact of environmental toxins on biodiversity and the safety of nearby fisheries and to reach rich and procedural treatments to control or mitigate pollutants
