The Marine Science Center organized a course entitled “Processes for Preparing Samples and Solutions Required for Laboratory Experiments.”
The course, which was lectured by Dr. Ahmed Youssef Mahmoud and a number of researchers from the Marine Chemistry Department, covered the steps of collecting, processing, and storing samples, in addition to methods for separating the material to be analyzed. It also explained how to increase or decrease the concentration of the sample, methods of expressing the concentration, in addition to examples of preparing some solutions.
The course aimed to:
1. Emphasize the importance of preparing samples and solutions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
2. Identify methods for collecting and processing samples correctly to avoid contamination.
3. Understand the different techniques for separating and analyzing chemicals.
4. Learn how to prepare standard solutions with high accuracy.
5. Review the quantitative analysis methods used to determine the quantities of materials in samples.
