A seminar on renewable energy as part of the Marine Science Center’s activities in celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week

As part of the activities of the Marine Science Center in celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Technology Incubator Unit at the Marine Science Center, in cooperation with the Technology Incubator at the University of Basra, held a symposium on renewable energies.

The symposium included a lecture entitled Renewable Energies... Their Sources... and Methods of Using Them.

The lecturer, M.M. Mazen Abdul Hussein Badan, gave the lecture at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra.

The lecture dealt with defining renewable energy, which is inexhaustible energy, and the existence of many types of renewable energy, including wind energy, solar energy, and tidal energy. Renewable energy has uses and a major role in most sectors, such as the industrial, agricultural, transportation, and energy sectors, and in most areas of our lives. This energy has many benefits, as it is environmentally friendly, knowing that it is not free of environmental pollutants, but it is less dangerous to the environment than other energy sources.

The researcher pointed out that the energy industry has witnessed a radical change with the acceleration of the gradual shift towards renewable energy sources as an alternative to traditional, expensive and polluting energy sources. A report by the International Renewable Energy Agency showed that investing in this type of energy sources is cost-effective and provides economic growth, jobs and sustainable development goals.
