The Technology Incubator Unit at the Marine Science Center, in cooperation with the Technology Incubator Division at the University of Basra, held a celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Assistant Professor Dr. Dawood Salman Banai participated in the Marine Science Center, Department of Sediments and Marine Bottoms, in a study on a pioneering project entitled
"Storing Carbon Dioxide in Deep Geological Layers, Southern Iraq",
The study presented the carbon dioxide storage technology as one of the innovative environmental methods that depends on collecting CO₂ from industrial sources such as power plants, oil facilities, etc., and then storing it permanently and safely in deep rock layers (geological formations).
This technology aims to reduce the amounts of carbon emitted into the atmosphere, which contributes to reducing global warming and associated climate changes.
