For sustainable water development... University of Basra organizes a course on measuring organic carbon in water samples

The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a course on measuring organic carbon in water samples using the TOC Analyser.

The course, presented by Prof. Abdul Zahra Al-Helou and other researchers, aimed to study and evaluate water quality and measure pollution rates in laboratory samples and train on the use of the TOC Analyser, which has a wide range of applications, starting from the analysis of drinking water and treated water to soil and partial biology, which makes its presence useful for modern research laboratories and companies concerned with production and quality control.

The course dealt with the use of organic carbon to measure pollution as an alternative to other methods for measuring the biological and chemical requirement for oxygen in water, which require a long time and environmentally harmful chemicals, as organic carbon concentrations are a more accurate indicator of the state of deterioration in the aquatic environment - especially - when exposed to pollutants from organic and chemical waste such as plastic and household sewage.
