The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a workshop on how to extract DNA and the next generation sequencing technique.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Ahmed Youssef Lafta, included an explanation of the composition of nucleic acids and their location in the cell and methods of extracting nucleic acids chemically and physically in plant tissues using the Generations of Sequencing technique.

The workshop explained the nature of the generation technique, which depends on determining the order of nitrogenous bases in DNA, which can be applied in several vital fields such as medicine, agriculture, environment, and the study of biodiversity, as well as identifying the tools and equipment used in both extraction and sequencing, and how to analyze the data resulting from the sequencing.
