The Culture and Society Committee at the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra organized an awareness lecture entitled (Domestic Violence between the Seriousness of the Problem and the Absence of Deterrent Laws) with the participation of lecturers from the College of Education for Human Sciences

Assistant Professor Shahd Ali Abdullah and Assistant Professor Zainab Hazem Kashish.

The lecture included defining the dangerous effects and repercussions of violence on the family and society, considering the family as the nucleus of society, and defining the concept of domestic violence and its types, psychological, physical, financial and pathological effects it leaves on victims.

The lecture also addressed the provisions of Iraqi law related to violence and recommendations that could contribute to reducing domestic violence.
