A dialogue symposium was held at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, entitled “Marine Environment Preservation and Coastal Development,” in cooperation with the Department of Scientific Affairs at the University of Basra. This symposium comes within the framework of efforts to enhance environmental awareness and protect marine ecosystems in Basra Governorate.

 The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of marine environment sustainability

 The symposium discussed marine geology and its importance in marine environmental studies of Iraqi territorial waters.

 Discuss the natural and human factors that affect the coasts of Iraq.

 He also discussed the possibility of establishing a fish hatchery in Basra Governorate to support local fish wealth.

 The symposium concluded with important recommendations to enhance cooperation between scientific and governmental bodies to ensure the protection of the marine environment and achieve sustainable development of the coasts in Basra Governorate.
