The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra held an educational course on (the suitability of using invertebrates for human consumption)

 

 

The course included a lecture entitled (The Importance of Using Invertebrates for Human Consumption) delivered by researcher Dr. Entisar Muhammad Ali Jabbar from the Marine Biology Department.
The lecture aimed to explain the importance of invertebrates as they constitute more than 90% of all animal species on Earth, in addition to their locations in the environment.
The lecture discussed the chemical composition of invertebrates, which are characterized by their high content of proteins, saturated fats, and minerals necessary for the body, such as iron, zinc, magnesium, and selenium.
In addition to the importance of the seafood industry as it is an important industry in increasing the economic income of the country, the most important Arab and foreign countries working in this field were also mentioned.
