A researcher at the University of Basra participates in the twelfth meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Oceanographic Network in Turkey

Dr. Wissam Razzaq Mutashar, Head of the Sedimentology and Marine Bottoms Department at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, participated in the twelfth meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Network on Oceanography (Inter-Islamic Network on Oceanography), known as INOC, affiliated with the Permanent Ministerial Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. In the presence of the President of the Islamic Network and members of the Islamic Network representing their countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
He stressed that the Marine Sciences Center is the official representative of Iraq in the Islamic Oceanographic Network, representing Iraq’s role in this international forum concerned with ocean sciences.
He added that one of the most prominent points discussed in the provisional agenda is financial support, maximizing resources, and sustaining the scientific activities carried out by the Islamic Network for the benefit of the cadres of member states’ institutions, the most important of which are training and educational courses in the marine fields to understand and protect marine environments.
  A new president of the Islamic Network has been elected, and this new governing body will take it upon itself to develop new strategies for future cooperation in order to continue its training and educational activities.
