A scientific team at the Marine Science Center at University of Basrah conducts field trips to monitor the presence of the Amazon sailfish

Commissioned by the Honorable President of the University of Basrah, a scientific team from the Marine Sciences Center, consisting of Professor Dr. Falah Marouf Mutlaq and Professor Dr. Abbas Jassim Toman, carried out field trips to survey and monitor the presence of the Amazon sailfish Pterygoplichthys pardalis in the Shatt al-Arab and the marshes of the eastern Hammar, as survey operations were launched from the regions of the Mashab, Al-Mandhuri, Al-Salal, and Harir until the Karmat Ali bridge. On the second trip, the area enclosed between the Karma Ali Bridge, passing through Sinbad Island to the port of Al-Maqal, was surveyed. In another trip, the area of ​​Al-Salihiya, Abu Al-Khasib, and even Umm Al-Rasas Island was surveyed, using various fishing methods that included fixed and floating gill nets, bottom trawl nets, and basket nets.  And the Karfa nets through coordination and cooperation with the fishermen of the region.
