The University of Basra visits Khorramshahr University in Iran within Science Week

 

Within the Science Week between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, a delegation from the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra visited Khorram Shahr University of Marine Sciences and Technology.

The head of the delegation and the Director-General of the Center, Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajil, said, “During the meeting, they agreed on a number of matters that serve both parties, including cooperation in the field of fish and shrimp farming by visiting specialists at the University of Khorramshahr and the University of Basra to review and learn about the Center’s projects related to agriculture and to provide advice on how to Developing it, cooperating in the field of bathymetry surveys of the Shatt al-Arab and the Gulf, and exchanging scientific consultations to protect the marine and coastal environment.”

Shaker added: A mechanism for joint cooperation was discussed that includes holding specialized training courses in the field of important software, such as the use of the mathematical model (Coherence) and scientific diving courses to develop skills and exchange scientific and practical experiences between the two parties, and the completion of joint scientific projects in specializations concerned with studying biodiversity and the nature of marine bottoms. And others, as well as benefiting from scientific and technical capabilities, laboratory services, logistical equipment, and optimal exploitation of scientific equipment to conduct analyzes and examinations between the two universities.
Shaker noted that an official invitation was sent to researchers from the Iranian University of Khorramshahr to publish their research in the scientific journals affiliated with the Center for free, and to involve those with specialization and academic degrees from the aforementioned university as evaluators and members of the editorial board of the center’s journals.
