Within the continuing education program at the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra, a training course was held on methods of collecting samples and how to preserve them. Three lectures were given. The first lecture included measuring the physical and chemical factors of the aquatic environment, delivered by Dr. Nada Mofeed.
On the study of the physical and chemical factors of the aquatic environment, how to collect and preserve a water sample, and the devices used for other environmental measurements, with a review of the most important environmental devices used in field and laboratory measurements. While the third lecture dealt with methods of collecting plant samples and methods of preserving them, it was delivered by Dr. Intisar Muhammad Ali Jabbar. During the lecture, she touched on the importance of aquatic plants and their role in preserving the ecosystem and using them as evidence to determine water quality, as well as clarifying the field measurement method represented by the Belt transect method and the Quadrate squares method, in addition to clarifying The most important methods of preservation are drying and fixation
