A teaching staff member at the Marine Science Center introduce a lecture on evaluating the mineral content in the Shatt Al-Arab

 The weekly department of marine vertebrates at the Center for Marine Science Centre at the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Ridha al-Doughagi presented a lecture entitled “Assessment of the mineral content, petroleum hydrocarbons and physicochemical properties of the Shatt al-Arab River. The content of minerals and petroleum hydrocarbons in the Shatt al-Arab River in the areas near the electric power station in Najibiyah, Basrah, was studied.”  The study also included measuring the physical and chemical properties of water. The study concluded that the content of these pollutants was within the permissible environmental limits, while the level of suspended solids TSS, the level of chlorine Cl and the level of sulfate SO4 were higher than the environmental limits.
