The weekly of the Department of Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment at the Center for Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, Dr. Sita Aram Kyork delivered a lecture entitled (Environmental Awareness)
The National Strategy for the Protection of the Environment of Iraq and the Executive Action Plan (2013-2017) confirm that one of the main reasons for the deterioration of the environmental reality in Iraq is the lack of environmental awareness on the societal level (individuals and institutions). 
The lecture dealt with defining the concept of environmental awareness, its importance and objectives, preparatory ideas for environmental awareness campaigns, the term environmental citizenship, and ethical aspects in dealing with the environment. The lecture, after the discussions and the questions of the attendees and their interventions, concluded with important recommendations and proposals in this aspect. During the lecture, pictures and posters related to this topic were shown.
