Reestablishing the Boundaries of the Marine Science Center Station in Al-Faw and Installing an Informational Sign in Preparation for Utilizing This Strategic Location
Under the direct supervision of the Director General of the Marine Science Center, Assistant Professor Abdul-Amir Rahim Jassim
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra continues its organizational efforts to develop its infrastructure. Specialized staff have begun re-marking the boundaries of the Center’s station in the Al-Faw area and installing an identification sign confirming the University’s ownership of the site, as part of ongoing preparations to utilize this vital station in advancing scientific research and marine studies.
This step is part of the Center’s plan to secure its headquarters and research stations and to organize operations there in line with scientific and research developments in the field of marine sciences. The Al-Faw Station is one of the stations affiliated with the Marine Sciences Center and plays an important role in supporting field research and environmental studies related to navigation and marine resources in the region.
The Director General explained that the re-demarcation of the boundaries and the installation of the identification sign are preliminary steps toward rehabilitating the station and equipping it with the necessary facilities, thereby enabling researchers and students to make the most of this strategic location, which is situated in the Al-Faw region—an area of significant environmental and economic importance— especially given the major developments taking place in the region related to the Grand Al-Faw Port and accompanying development projects.
It is worth noting that the Marine Sciences Center is a distinguished national scientific institution that contributes to many of the University of Basra’s objectives. It aims to support marine and inland water environmental research programs, advance the field of aquaculture, and provide training programs and scientific consultations to serve the community.
