A lecturer from the Centre for Marine Sciences participated as a member of the examination panel for a PhD thesis as part of the joint scientific collaboration between departments at the University of Basra.

Prof. Falah Ma’ruf Mutlak, Head of the Vertebrate Department at the Centre for Marine Sciences, University of Basra, participated as a member of the examination panel for the doctoral thesis entitled *Management of three fish species stocks in the East Al-Hammar Marshes, Iraq*

by PhD student Intisar Kamel Hamid from the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources.

The thesis aimed to assess the fish stocks of three economically important species in the East Hamar Marshes – the green mullet, the Kluzinger’s mullet and the khashni fish – and to propose scientific management measures to ensure their sustainability.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Basra presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr Falah Ma’ruf Mutlak for his efforts in reviewing and evaluating the thesis and enriching the discussion with valuable scientific insights.
