
A workshop entitled ((Performance Quality and Key Evaluation Indicators)) was held at the Marine Science Center - Al-Mahri Hall, in which Professor Dr. Hassan Khalil Hassan, Professor Dr. Wissam Razzaq Mutasher, and Assistant Professor Dr. Arafat Rajab Ahmed lectured on Tuesday 2/11/2025.
The workshop focused on presenting the basic evaluation indicators approved in the updated evaluation form for the calendar year 2023-2024 and updating the conditions for evaluating performance in the axis of scientific and research activity and what is related to research published in the approved solid global containers that have a CiteScore of more than 1, in addition to presenting the controls of the evaluation file and how to achieve the new ministerial conditions for certifying scientific publishing, to contribute to the quality of academic research performance and support the ranking of the University of Basra and its formations in global classifications. The workshop also discussed the nature of the Hirsch index and how individuals and journals obtain the required evaluation indicators, in addition to presenting the ethics of scientific publishing and raising researchers' awareness of the need to apply them in their scientific and research paths.
The workshop concluded with The necessity of achieving multiple procedures that represent the basic steps in solid publishing, the most important of which are:
1- Addressing the weakness in the infrastructure in research institutions and providing the scientific tools necessary to complete research so that the researcher can achieve research outputs that are consistent with the requirements for publication in solid journals.
2- Holding training courses in the university research institution to develop expertise in the field of publishing and presenting the steps for preparing solid articles to ensure acceptance of research within solid global publishing outlets.
3- Establishing an internal center to correct academic language in research. The role of the Language Center at the University of Basra can also be activated in the field of holding courses to strengthen the scientific language to support scientific publishing inside and outside the university.
4- Intensifying training courses for returning scholarship students to present their experiences in the field of solid publishing.
5- Enhancing academic awareness of the ethics of scientific publishing in the early stages of preparing researchers and confronting some negative phenomena that are not subject to the ethics of research and scientific publishing.
6- Working to establish research groups that plan to publish solid research that includes experienced and beginners to generalize successful publishing experiences.
